Up Hill Down Hall: An Indoor Carnival Performance
The Tate Modern will host an event in celebration of the Notting Hill Carnival’s 50th anniversary.
Saturday’s FREE EVENT, called Up Hill Down Hall: An Indoor Carnival Performance, will see a collection of artworks and performances — all inspired by the giant Bank Holiday street party — exhibited in the Tate’s Turbine Hall.
Sound artists Dubmorphology will play remixed steel pan, reggae and punk tracks while projecting words from some of the capital’s famous writers — including novelist Zadie Smith and poet Linton Kwesi Johnson — on to screens.
A customised sound system will be used, specially made to replicate the carnival’s sounds.
So if you can’t brave the crowds in west London, get immersed in the spirit of carnival through these diverse artists.
