The Photographers’ Gallery
As you might have noticed, here at Astor Hostels we really care about your finances and this is why we keep looking for free attractions for you. After the weirdest free tourist attractions and the free London bike tour it’s time to give you some artistic hints.
If you’re on Oxford Street and want to dip out of the crowd for some culture, why not check out the Photographers’ Gallery (Ramillies Street, London W1F7LW), just a short walk from Oxford Street tube station (take exit 7).
Free entry and open 7 days a week the Photographers’ Gallery is the largest public gallery in London dedicated solely to the art of photography. In tune with London’s current weather the gallery is currently featuring a group exhibition focusing on the British seaside as represented in the works of Simon Roberts, Luke Stephenson, Nicholas Hughes, Mike Perry and John Hinde.
Also worth a look is the Deutsche Borse Photography Prize 2014 exhibit with some arresting images by Spanish photographer Alberto Garcia-Alix, who has documented his life and the political environment over four decades through black and white portraits.
